I've watched stylists raise their prices twice in a year and still not be able to take a week off — because more money coming in doesn't help you if you have no idea where it's going out.

There is a number underneath your prices. A floor. Below it, you are paying money for the privilege of doing someone's hair. Almost nobody behind the chair knows theirs.
